Jets QB Zach Wilson Injury update after win over Bills

Zach Wilson of the New York Jets suffered an injury in the opening period of their game with the Buffalo Bills.

Wilson hit defensive tackle DaQuan Jones with a blow as he threw a sidearm screen pass to rookie wide receiver Garrett Wilson. Wilson’s kneeback appears to have been struck by Jones’ landing. On the play, no penalties were assessed.

Wilson was able to get up and leave the field before sitting down on the bench. Mike White, the backup quarterback, started warming up on the sideline.

Wilson missed the first three games of the season with a non-contact knee injury in the Jets’ first preseason game.

Wilson returned for the Jets’ next series.

When Wilson attempted to sidearm a pass to wideout Garrett Wilson on third down, he was tackled in the pocket. DaQuan Jones, a defensive tackle for the Bills, hit the quarterback hard as soon as he released the ball and finished the tackle by landing on his leg.

Wilson completed the pass to Wilson for a gain of two yards, but the quarterback remained on the field and finally made his way to the medical tent on the New York sideline. Mike White, the backup, was captured on tape removing his helmet and running off just in case.
