Tyler Wahl’s injury status was updated on Saturday by Greg Gard. The Wisconsin head coach claims that Wahl has improved but is still not ready to play.
In Tuesday’s win over Minnesota for Wisconsin, Wahl suffered an ankle injury.
Wahl’s absence creates a gap on the court that is difficult to fill. This season, the forward has averaged 13.2 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game, making him Wisconsin’s top scorer. This is the first game Wahl has been absent from this year.
The Wisconsin Badgers had won six straight games and were rated No. 14 in the nation going into Saturday’s game versus Illinois. The next-highest scorers after Wahl, Chucky Hepburn and Steven Crowl, had outstanding performances and scored a combined total of 42 points versus the Illini. However, Wisconsin struggled to get into a decent flow without Wahl, and the Badgers lost against the Illini 69-79.
